Ongoing discovery and dependency mapping is important to continuously calibrate your infrastructure data to workload mapping, cross-workload dependencies, and other workload-specific attributes such as performance and availability baselines. This enables improved decision making on migration grouping and prioritization, and optimization of landing zones.

Google Cloud tools

Third-party tools commonly used for discovery and assessment include the following:
- CAST Software Static code analysis tool for deep technical fit analysis of applications readiness to run on Google Cloud. It helps in application modernization decisions and change management.
- Matilda Cloud: Tool for automatic agentless discovery of applications topology, and their supporting software and hardware infrastructure. It helps in application modernization and in migration to the cloud.
- Txture: Tool for IT infrastructure mapping, including detailed application topology mapping. Valuable in infrastructure modernization projects with ability to include data from multiple sources.
