Get sign-in credentials
When you create a private cloud, Google Cloud VMware Engine deploys VMware stack components, referred to as management appliances, in the management subnet of that private cloud. You can access management appliances of that private cloud (like vCenter, NSX-T, and HCX) using credentials that VMware Engine generates.
Get sign-in credentials
VMware Engine generates passwords for management appliances in each private cloud you create. You can retrieve any generated credentials from the private cloud details page:
- Access the VMware Engine portal.
- Go to Resources and select your private cloud.
- In the Basic info section, click the View link for either your vCenter login info (vCenter Server, HCX Manager) or NSX-T login info (NSX Manager).
To generate new credentials, click the corresponding Reset password link. This can be helpful if you misplace your password. The password reset process applies to new sign-ins, and doesn't affect existing sessions. After resetting a password, update automated tools and scripts with the new credentials.
Password expiration
Credentials generated by VMware Engine and any accounts created on
the gve.local
single sign-on domain expire 365 days after their most recent
password update. After that time period, you must update the password
to continue using the account. This behavior applies to the following accounts:
- The
CloudOwner@gve.local
account used for vCenter Server and HCX Manager - The
admin
account used for NSX-T Manager - All solution user accounts used for setting up third-party tools and products
- Any other accounts created on the
gve.local
single sign-on domain
Access management appliances
You can launch an instance of a management appliance in your private cloud from the VMware Engine portal:
- Access the VMware Engine portal
- Go to Resources and select your private cloud.
- Select the vSphere management network tab.
- Click the FQDN link for the management appliance you want to access.
- Sign in with the appropriate credentials.
Update a password
The location where you update the password for an account depends on the account:
