After you've selected a Google Cloud project and have added users and groups to your Looker Studio Pro subscription, you can manage the number of Looker Studio Pro licenses that support your subscription.
In this step of the subscription process, Looker Studio displays the number of licenses that your subscription requires. Your organization must purchase at least this number of licenses to support the number of users and groups that you added in the previous step. To manage licenses for your Looker Studio Pro subscription, you must meet these requirements.
You can purchase licenses and then assign them to users as needed — so the number of licenses may be greater than the number of users, but the number of users cannot exceed the number of licenses. You might want to do this if any of the following statements apply:
- You didn't add users during the previous step in setting up the subscription.
- You're setting up the subscription but someone else in your organization will add users and groups later.
- Your organization is growing and new users will be coming online soon.
Every user of Looker Studio Pro, including those within a group, must have a Pro license. You'll be billed for the number of Pro licenses in the subscription, even if the license isn't currently in use.
Automatically assign licenses to new users in Pro groups
When the Auto assign available licenses to subscribed groups option is selected, Looker Studio Pro automatically assigns available licenses to new users who join or who are added to Google Groups that are part of the subscription. The license will be assigned when the user opens or uses the Looker Studio application. Assigning licenses is done on a first-come, first-served basis.
This option simplifies the process of assigning new Pro users without having to edit your subscription details.
Review and confirm your subscription details
Before completing your subscription, you can review the following details:
- Number of licenses in your Looker Studio Pro subscription
- Amount that you'll be billed each month
- Duration of the trial period, if applicable
- Google Cloud project that you'll use for Pro content
- Billing account that is associated with the Google Cloud project that you selected when you initiated the subscription
- The number of no-cost, complimentary Looker Studio Pro licenses that may be included in your subscription
Enabling Looker Studio Pro features for your users should take only a few minutes. You'll see a notification when the upgrade is complete. You'll also see the Looker Studio Pro logo in the upper left corner of the homepage (you may need to refresh your browser to see this):
